Absolutely. A definite complement to surfing. Yoga is one of the best activities surfers can do. It help builds flexible strength, endurance, balance and mental focus. It helps restore energy by nourishing and revitalizing the body, aids imbalances, works on posture and breathing and can help you stay calm and relaxed, which can be especially helpful in a major wipeout.

There are many varieties of yoga and different styles of teaching, so be sure to find one for you. Yoga for Surfers by Peggy Hall is a great DVD series of surf specific poses. Aimed at the specific needs of surfers who often have tight back, shoulders, neck and hips. A must see. Starting at beginners to more advanced poses throughout the series.
